Previously, I started giving you tips on how to get ready for life after graduation. Here is the rest of the list.

6.) Manage your money

How are you going to pay your bills? Do you know how much you owe? Find out.

7.) Get recommendations and letters of reference from your professors now, not later.

Employers might want letters of recommendation or letters of reference. It will be easier for you to bug, I mean, remind your professor while you are still on campus.

8.) Get your portfolio in order

If your profession requires you have a portfolio to show potential employers such as a graphic designer or journalist, get it together now and ask your professor for help so your portfolio is complete.

9.) Update your e-mail account

You may be relying on your college e-mail address but when you graduate, your email address may be terminated. Go on ahead and sign up for a yahoo,  gmail or some other type of e-mail account. And, make sure you use an e-mail address that is professional looking, use combinations such as the first letter and last name or some variation of your name, not honeybunnie84.

10.) Make reservations for out of town family

Is your family coming in from out of town, make reservations for them at nearby hotels now. Those rooms are going to fill up fast. Get ahead of the crowd.

11.) Have fun

Yes, have fun. Don’t take everything so seriously. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to get stressed out and upset. Until then, just enjoy each moment.

Bonus tips:

The Firsts/The Seconds- Even if you are already a college graduate, you can still use most of the tips I have mentioned. Stop procrastinating, get started.

Parents- Do you know what your young grad is planning to do after graduation? Don’t assume you know, ask. And find out how you can help them.

These are just my tips on how to prepare for graduation. Did I forget anything? Let me know.
